The future of Valdelsa’s industrial landscapes is being reimagined through a dynamic collaboration launched at the Festival Territorimpresa 2025. The festival, a hub for regional innovation, hosted the inaugural meeting of a thematic seminar focused on breathing new life into the industrial zone. This initiative brings together bright minds from the University of Florence’s Department of Architecture and the proactive municipalities of Colle di Val d’Elsa, Poggibonsi, San Gimignano, and Monteriggioni.
The seminar embraces an interdisciplinary approach, actively involving students from different study areas: Urban and Territorial Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, and Design. On Monday, May 5th, this future urban planners, landscape architects, architects and designer immersed themselves and closely explored the dynamics and redevelopment potential of the industrial areas of Valdelsa. This direct field experience forms the crucial foundation of the seminar’s hands-on methodology.
The initiative will move into an intense design activity phase, where the university students will unfold innovative and concrete concepts for the development of the industrial areas visited during the site inspection. The goal is to imagine new functions and redevelopment strategies that resonate with the specific needs of the Valdelsa territory, and to promote effective and sustainable urban regeneration strategies.
