CSM-dID Serving Innovation

Originally established as the CENTO Innovation Hub in 2011, now known as Distretto Interni e Design (dID), CSM-dID has built an extensive network of structured relationships at regional, national, and international levels. This network allows us to actively support the productive sectors of our interest, promoting innovation, collaboration, and growth.

Our Ecosystem of Collaborations

We’ve developed a robust and diverse ecosystem of partnerships, which includes:

Regionally:

  • Over 900 connected businesses, including large industries, SMEs, technology companies, service providers, and subcontractors.
  • Collaborations with leading trade associations such as Confindustria, CNA, Confartigianato, and API.
  • Partnerships with public and private research bodies, including the Universities of Siena, Florence, Pisa, CNR, SSSA, CUBIT, and the INSTM consortium.
  • Relationships with other technology districts, as part of the CLOCK network, and with similar entities like Navigo, Next, Lucense, and Ditecfer.
  • Collaborations with training agencies: as an accredited and ISO 9001 certified training agency, CSM collaborates with other organizations focused on skills development, including participation in the TEAM network (Toscana Formazione, ATHENA, Fondazione Campus, Master Formazione, Pont-tech, Formazione conservatorio San Giovanni Battista).

Nationally:

  • Close relationships with key national players made possible by our presence in the CTN Made in Italy, including FEDERLEGNO-ARREDO, AR-REDO FVG cluster, COSMOB, and Luce in Veneto, to develop collaborations in research and development and skills.
  • Partnerships with important universities and research centres, such as Politecnico di Milano, Politecnico di Torino, Enea, various CNR institutes (Stiima, IFAC), Fondazione Cini, University of Padua, and La Sapienza Rome.
  • Founding member of CTN MINIT (Made in Italy) and SMILE (Technologies for Living Environments), which catalyse many of these collaborations.

Internationally:

  • Partner of ECCP – European Cluster Collaboration Platform, with over 50 active collaborations with international clusters in the furniture, ICT, textile, construction, and energy sectors.
  • Relationships with European university and design centres such as ELISAVA (Spain), University of Evora, WSB (Poland), KIT Karlsruhe, Dansk Design Centre, University of Transylvania, University of Maribor (Slovenia), PDR – Cardiff Metropolitan University, and ZAG (Slovenia).
  • Twenty years of collaborations with Chinese players in the university and productive sectors, beginning with a solid partnership with Nanjing Forestry University.
  • Partner of the Cluster of Clusters of EFIC, the European Furniture Industry Confederation, to promote dialogue on circularity, internationalization, standards, and the internal market.
  • Active participation in the TCI NETWORK, an international cluster network focused on innovation and strategic policies.
  • Involvement in strategic European initiatives such as the New European Bauhaus (NEB), where over 500 stakeholders collaborate to define sustainable, aesthetic, and inclusive innovation scenarios, and the Pact for Skills, an initiative of the European 21-27 education and training strategy, with our involvement in the thematic groups of the CCI and construction sectors.

Through this vast network, CSM-dID positions itself as a catalyst for opportunities, facilitating knowledge exchange, the development of innovative projects, and the competitive growth of businesses in our target sectors.
