The Competence Certification course in “Execution of finishing, painting, varnishing, gilding, and lacquering work (UC 1043)” and “Execution of surface finishing works (UC 1118)” offers the opportunity to reskill and/or acquire new competencies in the construction sector.

Promoted within the framework of Giovanisì, the Regione Toscana’s project for youth autonomy, and financed by the European Union NextGenerationEU through the GOL program, this training program is a concrete investment for the future.

A Comprehensive Path for Finishing Experts

This EQF Level 3 course will provide the necessary technical-professional skills to excel in the field of building finishes. The program is structured into various training units, designed to offer you comprehensive preparation:

  • Health and safety in construction works (16 hours)
  • Techniques and knowledge for job preparation (16 hours)
  • Techniques and knowledge for application execution (32 hours)
  • Materials and decorative techniques (28 hours)
  • Execution of surface finishing works (32 hours)
  • DigComp (22 hours), a unit dedicated to essential digital competencies.
  • Company internship (96 hours), a practical experience to apply what has been learned.

The program includes 146 hours of in-classroom theory and 96 hours of internship, for a total of 242 hours of intensive training. Lessons will take place from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM, with a maximum of 8 hours per day. To obtain the final certification, a mandatory attendance of 70% of the total hours is required, including at least 50% of the internship hours.

Who Can Participate?

The course is aimed at 8 to 11 students and is part of the GOL program (Guarantee of Employability for Workers). The following categories can benefit from this opportunity:

  • Recipients of social safety nets (both with and without an employment contract, such as NASPI and DIS-COLL).
  • Recipients of “Reddito di Cittadinanza” (Citizen’s Income).
  • Fragile or vulnerable workers, including NEET youth (under 30), disadvantaged women, people with disabilities, and mature workers (55 and over).
  • Unemployed individuals without income support (for at least six months), other workers with fewer employment opportunities, and self-employed individuals with low incomes or who are ceasing activity.

Minimum access requirements include being at least 16 years old and having fulfilled the compulsory education and training obligation (three-year LeFP qualification), or being at least 18 years old. For foreign citizens, Italian language proficiency at A2 level of the CEFR is required.

Credits and Attendance Allowance

It is possible to request the recognition of entry credits, following the procedures of DGR 251/2023. The request must be made before or in the initial phase of the course.

An attendance allowance of €3.50 per hour (calculated on classroom hours and synchronous distance learning) is provided for unemployed individuals over 55 who do not receive “Reddito di Cittadinanza” or social safety nets. The allowance, disbursed at the end of the project and only for the first course attended, has a maximum limit of €250.

Certification and Job Prospects

At the end of the program, after passing a final exam that includes a written test, a technical-practical test, and an individual interview, a Certificate of Competence for UC 1043 and UC 1118 will be issued. For those who do not pass the exam or interrupt the program, a declaration of learning will be issued. A declaration of learning will also be issued for the DigComp training unit.

This certification opens doors to a wide range of jobs in the construction sector, ensuring successful integration into various realities in the Tuscan territory.

How to Register?

Course registration takes place in two phases:

  1. Access to the GOL Program: First, you need to register for the GOL program by going to one of the Employment Centers in the Tuscan territory. There, you will be directed to a specific pathway (such as Upskilling or Reskilling) based on the orientation results.
  2. Course Registration: Once directed to Upskilling or Reskilling, you can register for the desired course by going to an Employment Center or a Job Agency.

The course is organized by SCUOLA EDILE – C.P.T. SIENA and will take place in the classrooms and laboratories on Strada Chiantigiana and Viale Franci n° 18 in Siena.
